HELL FREEZES OVER
Dinah learns to use HTML.

BALTIMORE(AP)--Famed Shrink Rap blogger, Dinah, announced today that she successfully formatted her Blogger post with only minor HTML experience or assistance. She described her experience at an afternoon press conference:

"It was really easy," she said. "I just clicked the...whaddya call it? The link button. I clicked the link button."

[To appreciate the context of this post, please read the end of the comments on the previous post.]

Dinah, I want you to know I prepared this post last July. I've been hanging on to it for just this moment. Congratulations!

Watch out, experts have warned that HTML formatting may be a 'gateway geekage' that soon leads to the harder stuff. Pretty soon Dinah'll be taking apart her CPU for fun, programming her own algorithms and typing her e-mails entirely in hexadecimal.

If she can figure out how to modify my Debian initrd so I can boot from my new Linux USB hard drive, I'm all for it :)

Actually I think I've figured it out but it's too late to try it. Bad things happen when you geek out in a sleep-deprived state.

Word verification: yazau (the cry of joy made by a geek when something works)

Haha I'm very proud!! LOL Now - since I started blogging, I've been using my Mac, and I have Safari. It doesn't show the link buttons or any of that. It took me a long time to figure out how to do the html stuff. I had to examine my template and then examine code on another site I go to a lot, and then....only then, did I finally figure out how to add links to my posts! And once I figured out how to add them to my posts, it was the same for the comments section.

I was so peeved the first time I tried to post to my blog from a windows comp and saw all the extra buttons for links and such that weren't showing up when I used blogger in Safari!! But, on the other hand, I learned how to do it - and that makes me feel just one step closer to being a computer geek. haha

Congrats, Dinah!!! lol

Take care,
Carrie :)

Oh hex....don't get me started....1's and 0's all over the place! I used to private message back and forth with this clusterbuddy of mine using hex...it was always fun to figure out what the messages meant. If people don't put spaces in between each code, then it is a LOT harder! But it was fun anyway! haha I love puzzles.... :)

Carrie, you say you did this AFTER you got the headaches? Cause doing that would sure give ME a headache (nothing like yours though, but the very thought, oy!!)

Three cheers for Dinah!

I've been embedding links in my posts for months. I just didn't know I could do it in the COMMENTS as well. So, I take it I can use the same html code to embed links in my E-mails?

You all are mean.
And, Roy, listen carefully, I'll say it once: I AM NOT SPAM>!

I'm not mean, I'm the traditional rubber duckie (quack!). If I was mean, I'd be the red one w/horns . . . hee hee.

Not for email!! In most emails, if you were to type the html code, it would just send it as the html code - but likely leave the link part in the middle as clickable...oddly enough! The majority of email servers (even mine at the university) will allow you to just type the link such as http://www.whatever.com and it will automatically turn into a hyperlink that they can just click on in the email. I think the email servers do this so that people don't have to learn html since they know the majority won't want to!! ;)

We're not mean...we just like messin with ya! ;)

Oops and I was wrong in my comment above about hexadecimal - that's not the 1's and 0's all over the place...that's binary!! So if ya can figure this little message out, I'll give you a gold star for the day - but if you can't get it, I'll give you a little helping hint later! ;)
