Let The Sun Shine!!!

We've had 80 (?) inches of snow here this year. Unheard of! Who moved that Mason-Dixon line? It was enchanting at first, and I felt like I was on vacation: fires, hot cocoa, no where to go, watch a movie, eat good food, for a day or two here and there I couldn't get to work and no one wanted to see me. Snow Day!

Ah, but the enchantment ended. The bushes are flattened. The gutter are draped across my house leaving rotted beams exposed. The snow is in ugly blackened mounds everywhere, and as it gradually melts, there are tracks of mud pretty much every where.

And today's forecast: snow. Yesterday they were saying 5 to 10 inches. Two patients have called to cancel (Shrink response: Call me in the morning after you look out the window). So far, so good. Hoping the gutter guys can come today.

Enough hot cocoa. Enough days off. Enough trying to reschedule everyone. Enough shoveling, Enough salt tracked onto the wooden floors. Enough. Enough. (I know, it could be much worse).

Here's to 75 and sunny, somewhere?

We need more snow, so our mountains will give us enough water into our reservoirs . . . we haven't had near enough out here.

Of course, with my knee at the mo I don't need the slippery, but for the sake of the environment out here it'd be better. You're getting our snow, dang it.

I don't think that it will ever stop snowing here!! Right now it so quiet, peaceful and beautiful on my street. The snow is still white and pretty much untouched. Fortunately, I don't have to shovel or drive in this mess so I'm looking forward to just staying in and watching movies all day. I know that tomorrow it will be a big, sloppy, wet mess once again. Yuck!!! I'm glad that I don't have to deal with sagging gutters but huge chunks of snow & ice keep falling from the fire escape above mine and the noise scares the bejezus out of my cat.

I'm with you, Dinah. Here's to 75 and sunny! Although, at this point, even 50 sounds heavenly!

I was brought up in Buffalo so know well all you describe. Yesterday it was 63 degrees and sunny, trees in blossom, daffodils in bloom here in Sunny northern CA.

Depending on the problem, there is probably a specific type of therapy for it. While the therapies mentioned above don’t really mention medication, some therapeutic programs do combine the therapy with a prescription to help the patient through treatment. These are only a few of the vast number of different therapies out there

Anyone read the NY Times Magazine story on a potential evolutionary explanation for depression? I think it's crap. Available on NYTimes.com

We're over it too. I'm in Florida and we're not even hitting 75 yet. No snow, but rain, rain, rain, rain.

The flip-flops need to come out again -- our poor Florida toes are not used to being cooped up in close-toed shoes all the time!

We have had a lot of snow and rain here in Virginia, too, and I have felt sadder and less energetic than usual during the winter. I think I have a touch of SAD. Or is it because I am a hospice nurse and all my patients are dying within a few hours of admission? I can't wait for spring.

irginia, too,
