Bury Me in the Backyard

Please forgive the flip title, I just couldn't resist.
This article caught my eye: Home Burials Offer An Intimate Alternative.
Is there more to say?

Just make sure you take care of the paperwork before you bury Nanna in the backyard, otherwise there may be a LOT more paperwork to take care of in the future. ;)

This is a great article showcasing an interesting alternative to what has become a very money driven industry. Thank you for sharing. If I wasnt already set on cremation I would have ordered a coffin/bookshelf immediately! :)

In Maryland it's not illegal to bury someone in your backyard. Yet.

Um... what happens if you move? Do you dig up grandma and take her with you? (probably not)... but if you want to come visit her grave, there are some.. um.. problems. Knock on the new owners home.. "Um.. I burried my grandma in the back yard... can I go see her grave?"

midwifewithaknife, that is what I want to know, too. Plus, I would wonder what having one or many graves in a backyard would do to the resaleability of a property.

@ MWAK and The Girl.. I guess if you move, the next owners of the house get the added bonus of experiencing that scene from Poltergeist for themselves.. You know, the one where they discover bodies in the half-finished in-ground pool..
