We try to have fun with this, but we're 3 real live psychiatrists and we all take our work very seriously. Lately, we've been getting a lot of insulting and offense comments in response to our posts. We're fine with opinions that differ from ours-- but please, no obscenities.
it is completely unacceptable that people would hurl obscenities in the comments.
ReplyDeletei do know that your blog was originally geared to an audience of fellow professionals, but over time it seems to have attracted a more diverse readership.
at the risk of being overly judgmental, i would like to note that the flavour of some of the commentary seems to indicate a possibility that some of your other readers (like myself) may be posting their comments through the filter of various psychiatric conditions...
it is uncommonly thoughtful that you would post a warning before moving to comment moderation. it seems to me that in our interweb society we have become highly reactive and high-handed.

ReplyDeleteI was not able to spot any INSULTING or OFFENSIVE comments.
1 I believe that you were referring to the VULGAR way of expressions used in the comments. It is obvious that vulgar expressions might be used by people obviously angry becosue of the themes treated inhere, not becosue they are offending or insulting someone in particular.
2 You see, you really do not look like educated people yourslef, as it is evident that you have so many troubles in english comprehension.
3 As for the dumb or even idiotic themes very often treated in your blog (not mentioning th efact that you are using nicknames instead of real doctors names), it seems quite obvious that you are not respected psychiatrists, but a bunch of semi educated youngsters, who have too much time on their hands.
In substance you are just a joke. Nobody serious would ever think posting on your childish blog.

ReplyDeleteI love the way wordpress has it's comment moderation set up. New posters are auto moderated, but I can approve people once they've commented before so there's no longer the wait time for moderation.
Looks like we'll go back soon to No Anonymous commenting and comment moderation. Sorry, folks.

ReplyDeleteSeems s/he should rebut whatever s/he disagrees (hopefully after running it through a spellchecker this time) with some sort of evidence.
So far the evidence is:
1. M3S allegedly have trouble with English, even though as an editor I haven't witnessed anything blatant within this exchange except from the anonymous commenter who admits by his own pseudo-logic that he is a semi-educated youngster with too much time on his hands, a nobody, and not serious.
2. M3S doesn't use real names (or full names anyway) so naturally they are semi-educated youngsters (ouch!). At least one person on here is using a real name and it is easy to find more info on them if you so choose. Probably means you can find their shrink license too as most states have licensing registries.
Turning that mirror on others instead of yourself is much easier, I'm sure, until you actually have to own up to your accusations. Hurry up, I'm waiting.

ReplyDeleteHaving once used an implicit expletive and engaged in some uncivil discourse on your blog, I apologize. You run a wonderfully well-written and thoughtful site. A dozen cyberflowers to all three of you, varieties of your choice. Or cyberchocolate, if you prefer. I look forward to your book. I encourage all fans of the three doctors to come out and cheer them on.
